Medical Mercy-Rescuring Forgotten Children with Jesus' Love

Medical Mercy is the medical component to Mission of Mercy. Our goal is to offer quality medical care to the sponsored children of Mission of Mercy, their families and communities. We accomplish this by taking medical teams from the United States into the countries of our sponsored children. We also train select groups of adults in the communities in which the children live, to be Healthcare Workers. We accomplish this by following a program put together by Dr. David Beyda, our Medical Director.

We are in need of medical personnel and support staff on these trips. We invite you to join us as we continue with our Ministry of healing and love for the Forgotten Children.  [Read more…]

2010 Mission Trips

In November 2004, Dr. David H. Beyda M.D. and Kelly Ramsland, R.N., with a team of 15, made their first trip to Cambodia to care for Mission of Mercy sponsored children. It was at that time that it became very clear that “Forgotten Children” were truly forgotten and that there was a emergent need for medical care at a grassroots level in countries that themselves were forgotten.

We are looking to build the Ethiopia team...
please read the following note from Dr. David Beyda:

"In 2008 Medical Mercy traveled to Ethiopia and saw over 2000 patients in five days. We traveled to remote areas of the country and identified over160 children who were severely malnourished and on their way to dying. We instituted a Rapid Nutritional Rescue Program for those children, and in six months, all doubled their weight and are living healthy lives. In 2009 a Health Care worker training program was given, and 23 lay teachers took the week long course learning anatomy and physiology, physical diagnosis, physical examination skills, the recognition and treatment of common illnesses, and basic pharmacy. They are the primary health care providers for children in the remote areas of Ethiopia.

We are going back to Ethiopia this October: October 1-9, 2010. We'll be working alongside the health care workers we trained, assessing children for malnutrition, treating complex illnesses and not so complex illnesses, traveling to some remote areas, and caring for those who are less fortunate and forgotten. We are in need of team members. Many of you have been on our trips before, and know the difference you've made in these children's lives. Think about it and consider coming with us. Thank you for all that you've done and if you find it in your heart to be with us in Ethiopia, thank you for that."
